About me
David has been Life’s Community Liaison Manager for 8 years and during that time has worked closely with a wide range of communities including: autistic, deaf, vision impaired, wheelchair, and those facing significant socio-economic challenges, always seeking to improve accessibility for all. Life’s partnership work supporting the autistic community, received a Mariano Gago award at the Ecsite Conference 2022. Since then, Life have continued to receive awards and accreditations for accessibility, inclusion and partnership work. In April 2024 Life became the first (and so far, only) organisation to be awarded ‘Autism Acceptance Gold Plus’ by North East Autism Society and in March 2026, Life won Gold for Best Large Visitor Attraction, and Gold for Accessibility and Inclusion, at the North East Tourism Awards. David is an Advocate within the Diversci group which seeks to address equality, diversity, and inclusion issues across Europe's science sector, and beyond. Prior to working at Life, he had a successful career working in housing management, tenant participation, and community development.
